Askham Fell
Walk Summary
This easy-going fell walk is a brilliant one for a clear, calm day. The parking sits right on top of the fell, so there's no steep climbing. There is a wide, well-trodden path across open moorland with cracking views in every direction. It's ideal for groups who want to chat side by side as they walk.
The flat, open terrain is perfect for letting dogs off the lead, as you can keep an eye on them the whole time. At the crossroads you can turn back for a shorter loop, or extend the walk down into Pooley Bridge for a mid-walk drink, or head left along the path above Ullswater for some stunning panoramic views. Afterwards, pop over to The Punchbowl in nearby Askham for a well-earned pint.

Punchbowl Inn
Tucked away in the village of Askham, this cosy spot is one of our favourites. Parking is available around the back of the pub, or you can follow the free village car park sign just 20 meters up from the pub.
The fish and chips are our top pick. The Sunday roasts are also excellent, but you will want to book ahead in the colder months when it gets busy. The beer garden out front and down the side gets the sun all day and is a brilliant spot to relax with the dog.
